Love thrives on renunciation – indeed, they are inseparable

Divine quotes

Giving up the little “I” is what renunciation really means. It means sublimating every thought, word and deed into an offering to God, saturating all acts with divine intent. To cultivate love is the best spiritual discipline. Love gives itself forever; it never asks another to give. Shower it on others and you will be showered in return. Stop sharing love and there will be no more to share. Love thrives on renunciation – indeed, they are inseparable

Let veera Sriman Hanuman lives in my mind and guide me in every aspect and lead me to victory. This Hanuman, known as the Ramadootha - the messenger of Sri Rama - was born to the Wind God Pavana, the Vayu, his eyes are light yellow in colour, has long hair. He is the one who helped Sita to get rid of her sorrow by conquering the Dasamuka rakshasa, Ravana; gave life to Lakshmana when he was lying unconscious bringing the herbal mountain itself for this purpose (as he had no time to search and select the proper medicinal herbs) and this is the same Hanuman who showed that he has the capability of crossing the Ocean.

My salutations to this Hanuman who always brings subham - everything that is good - for his devotees and eliminates the bad and the evil. He removes even the traces of bad thoughts and deeds from his devotees. i.e he makes them pure in words, thought and deed. With eyes yellow in colour, he is said to be the best among the kapi- the monkeys. He is the one as bright as koti Suryas and koti Chandras (million Suns and Moons) who went in search of Sita. He was a threat to the island of Lanka, but for his devotees he is the one who bestows everything. He was praised by Sugriva. Being the messenger of Rama (the descendent of Kakusth dynasty) he is revered by all Devas including Indra.

Lord Nataraja—The Great Dancer

Lord Nataraja—The Great Dancer

‘Ya’ in Namassivaya represents Jiva or the individual soul. The Panchakshara Namassivaya forms the body of Lord Siva. The hand that wears fire is ‘Na’. The foot that presses the demon Muyalaka is ‘Ma’. The hand that holds Damaru is ‘Si’. The right and left hand that move about are ‘Va’. The hand that shows Abhaya is ‘Ya’.

Once upon a time, a group of Rishis abandoned their faith in the true Lord and took to the worship of false deities. Lord Siva wanted to teach them a lesson. He stirred in them strange passions. The Rishis became very furious. They created many evils through their power of penance and let them loose upon Siva. Lord Siva overcame them and finally defeated the great Kali, a creation of the Rishis, by the cosmic dance.

At the time of Sri Nataraja’s dance, Patanjali Rishi and Vyaghrapada were witnessing the dance and enjoying it. They were standing on either side of the Lord. Even in paintings and sculpture of the Nataraja’s Murti, you will find the figures of Patanjali and Vyaghrapada on either side of Nataraja. The lower part of the body of Vyaghrapada will resemble that of tiger and the corresponding part of Patanjali that of the serpent.

The most wonderful dance of Nataraja is the Urdhva Tandava. In this dance the left leg is lifted up and the toe points to the sky. This is the most difficult form of dance. Nataraja defeated Kali by this pose in dancing. Kali successfully competed with Nataraja in all other modes of dance. Nataraja lost His earring while dancing. He succeeded by means of His toe, in this form of dance, in restoring the ornament to its original place without the knowledge of the audience.

Nataraja danced with His right leg lifted upwards. This is the Gajahasta pose in dancing or Nritya. He danced continuously without changing His legs once.

There is another dance pose of Siva on the head of an elephant. In this form, Lord Siva is known as Gajasana Murti. At the foot of Lord Siva, there is the head of an elephant monster. Lord Siva has eight hands. He holds the trident, the drum and the noose in His three right hands. He holds the shield and the skull in His two hands. The third left hand is held in Vismaya pose.

An Asura assumed the form of an elephant to kill the Brahmins who were sitting round the Linga of Visvanath in Banares, absorbed in meditation. Lord Siva came out suddenly from the Linga and killed the elephant-monster and used the skin as His garment.

Article in English and Telugu of Goddess Bramarambika – Story of Bhramaramba Devi at Srisailam Temple

Goddess Bramarambika – Story of Bhramaramba Devi at Srisailam Temple

Goddess Bramarambika is one of the manifestations of Goddess Shakti. In this form, She is the consort of Mallikarjuna Swamy (Shiva) at the Srisailam Temple. There are several legends associated with Bhramaramba Devi and one of the most popular one is she releasing thousands of bees to annihilate a demon.
Legend has it that a demon named Arunasura after strict austerities and penance pleased God Brahma and gained the boon that he will not be killed by any living being with two or four legs.
After acquiring the boon, he started troubling devas, saints and humans. Due to the boon, Devas were unable to defeat him. Finally, all living beings approached Goddess Durga and requested to save them from Arunasura. Goddess Durga then released thousands of bees, which had six legs, from her body. They stung the Asura to death. Goddess Durga remained in the form of Bramarambika at Srisailam.
At Srisailam Temple, Bhramaramba Devi is depicted as having eight arms and is adorned with silk sari. Married women perform different pujas for a happy and prosperous family life.
Srisailam Templs is popularly known as Bhramaramba Mallikarjunaswamy Temple. It is one among the 12 Jyotirlinga Temples.

The temple is devoted to Sri Mallikarjunaswamy and his consort Devi Bhramarambika. One of the 12 ‘ Jyotirlingas’ in India, the temple is situated on the south bank of Krishna River in Nallamalai forest. ‘Bhramara‘ means ‘bee‘ and goddess Bhramarambika is ( Parvati), the consort of Lord Mallikarjuna (Shiva). She is said to have assumed the form of a bee and worshipped him. The goddess is worshipped as Brahmani Shakti. Legend says that one can get mukti by taking birth at Srisailam. The sanctum of the temple, a shell-like structure, enshrines Lord Mallikarjuna.
Bhramaramba Mallikarjunaswamy Temple is a hill temple located at a height of 457 m at Srisailam in Andhra Pradesh. Srisailam is situated in the thick and inaccessible forests of the Nallamalai hills, in the northeastern portion of the Nandikotkur Taluk of Kurnool District. It is one of the most ancient and sacred places in South India, and this important religious shrine stands on the Rishabhagiri hill, on the southern bank of the sacred river Krishna. Srisailam is referred to as “Sri Giri”, “Sriparvata”, “Rudra Parvata” and “Seshachalam” in several texts and Puranas.

BHRAMARAMBA DHYANA RUPA
The temple resembles a large fort and is known for its sculptures. Built by the Vijayanagar King Harihara Raya (1404-1405) the temple is characterised by the Vijayanagar architectural style. The row of sculptures on the walls gives the impression of a gallery. The remarkable feature of the temple is a sculpture of sage Bringi standing on three legs. It is said that the sage was damned by the Goddess Parvati to turn into a skeleton since he worshipped only Shiva. The Lord appeased Parvati and gave the sage one more leg to stand on. There are smaller shrines devoted to Nandi, Sahasralinga and Nataraja.
Pilgrims bath in the Pathalaganga – the local name for the River Krishna – before visiting the sacred shrines of Brahmaramba, Mallikarjunaswamy, Uma-Maheshwara and Saraswati.
The Satavahanas, Vakatakas, Kakatiyas and Vijayanagar rulers were great devotees of Lord Mallikarjuna as is evident from early inscriptions found here. The gopuram of the temple was built by Chhatrapati Shivaji, the Maratha ruler.
The Krishna River passing through this shrine, is the holy teerth known as pathalaganga. Pilgrims take holy dip in this river. Nearby is the Shikaram, Tripurantakam, Paladhara Panchadhara and Alampur Navabrahmma temples. Hyderabad airport is at a distance of 230 km. The railway station at Markapur is 91 km from Srisailam along the Guntur- Hubli line on South Central Railway. Buses are easily available to and from this place to other parts of the state.
Bhramaramba / Bhramarambika is one of the eighteen Shakti peethas. The Greeva(Neck) of Devi fell here. She is the Shakti of Mallikarjuna.

BHRAMARAMBA TEMPLE
Temple of Bhramaramba: The idol of Bhramaramba is in the form of Maha lakshmi. An idol of Lopamudra, the wife of Agastya, is present in the Garbha griha. A Sri yantra is present in front of the Garbha griha.

Sthala purana:
Bhramaramba (Bhramari) means the Mother of bees.
Once upon a time, a demon named Arunaasura ruled the whole world. Chanting Gayatri mantra, he performed Tapasya for a very long time, and pleased Lord Brahma. Arunaasura, wished that he should not be killed by two feeted and four feeted creatures. Lord Brahma granted his wish.
With this wish of Arunaasura, Devathas were worried and prayed Adi Shakti. She appeared and told that, Arunaasura is her devote and can,t be killed unless he stops worshiping her.
As per the plan of Devathas, Brihaspathi(Jupiter), the Deva guru meets Arunaasura. The demon wondered and asked Brihaspathi the reason for his vist. Brihaspathi told him that, as both of them worship the same deity, the Gayatri, there is no wonder if he meets him. Arunaasura felt ashamed of himself for worshiping Gayatri, who is also being worshiped by Devathas and stopped worshiping her. With this Adi Shakti became angry and took the form of Bhramari / Bhramarambika. She created innumerable bees, which have six legs. These bees killed Arunaasura and his whole army within seconds.

Divine Mother

“Avoid the error of the ignorant mind’s demand on the Divine Power to act always according to our crude surface notions of omniscience and omnipotence. For our mind clamours to be impressed at every turn by miraculous power and easy success and dazzling splendour; otherwise it cannot believe that here is the Divine. The Mother is dealing with the Ignorance in the fields of the Ignorance; she has descended there and is not all above. Partly she veils and partly she unveils her knowledge and her power, often holds them back from her instruments and personalities and follows that she may transform them the way of the seeking mind, the way of the aspiring psychic, the way of the battling vital, the way of the imprisoned and suffering physical nature.”
